The Hound of the Master Skills

The Hound of the Master Skills
Dr. Watson has picked up a piece of paper at a crime scene. As he hands the potential clue to his friend, the great detective Mr. Sherlock Holmes, Watson inquires, ''I say, Holmes, what do you make of this?'' From Holmes' point of view, one can see centered at the top of the sheet of paper a typeset imprint that reads: ''from the desk of Professor Moriarty.'' The remainder of the page contains a handwritten note that says: ''M: Hire new henchman (with the word 'henchmen' then scratched out) henchperson (with 'person' underlined, perhaps indicating that Moriarty is trying to learn to be more inclusive by practicing gender neutrality) at earliest convenience. M.'' Apparently after having glanced at the paper, Holmes responds to Watson's question, ''Elementary, my dear Watson. I deduce that it's a scrap of stationery from the desk of Professor Moriarty... A memo to remind himself to hire a new henchman... no, a new henchperson.''
Holmes continues, ''Moriarty will be looking for someone who has many, perhaps even hundreds, of skills: Self-Management Skills, Transferable Skills, and Job-Related Skills all suited to the position of henchperson.'' The Good Doctor praises Holmes, ''Your extraordinary powers of memory, observation, and deduction never cease to amaze me, Old Chap.''
Watson continues, ''Tell me, Holmes, did you learn your superior deductive skills in middle school, high school, undergraduate school, or graduate school?'' Holmes, of course, says, ''Elementary, my dear Watson. Elementary.'' (Meanwhile, disguised as a London Bobby and standing near the door as if guarding the entrance to a crime scene is none other than the nefarious Professor Moriarty. He has overheard all of the conversation between the detective and the doctor. And he smugly thinks to himself, ''Ha, Holmes, all I really need to know, I learned in kindergarten!'')
